The Department of Gender Studies at Central European University seeks to hire a fulltime assistant professor with expertise in Gender in the Humanities. We are looking for a colleague with a strong theoretical grounding in gender studies, and a research agenda that crosscuts one or more of the following areas: biopolitics, postcolonial theory, critical race theory, posthumanism, the animal question, science studies, or critical climate change studies. The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to teach our MA course in feminist theory. We seek a colleague with an active, interdisciplinary research agenda and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching in an English language academic environment at the graduate level. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. by August 31, 2015.

Fulltime teaching is typically two or three courses per term, depending on credit distribution, plus thesis supervision. The appointment is for an initial four years, after which the faculty member is reviewed for reappointment with permanent contract. Promotion is expected within a maximum of six to seven years from date of hire.
